Highlining Gavea-Stone Overlooking Rio de Janerio, Brazil
Photograph by Tim Kemple
The shot if from the Gavea-Stone high-line in Rio during the Sender Films First Ascent TV series for NG international. The trip was a tribute to a friend who died who was from Brazil so we were there to capture the essence of adventure in her homeland. The high-line I was walking was really inspiring in that it was overlooking the entire city and had a constant onslaught of beautiful clouds (and high-winds) rolling through engulfing you. Climbing and life in general in Brazil was totally mind-blowing: relaxed culture, varied and adventurous climbing objectives and an inspiring landscape that combined jungle, mountain and ocean. It was a scary moment to capture this particular photo because I had to mount the line in the dark over the void and then keep my balance in the wind as my good friend time popped a huge flash in my face! All in all a memorable adventure.
Oh so all that stuff isn’t lava. Cool.
